Identifying Counterfeit Pokemon Merchandise

The phenomenal success of the Pokemon video games and television series has unfortunately led to widespread victimization of consumers through the marketing and distribution of counterfeit merchandise. These counterfeits include hundreds of different types of products including plush toys, action figures, school supplies and trading cards. It is unlawful to market or sell counterfeit products. Nintendo is working together with law enforcement officials to stop the sale of these products and prosecute the infringers.

When you're shopping for Pokemon goods, be sure to examine any item closely to make sure it is authentic. Authentic products which are licensed by Nintendo are designed and manufactured to high quality standards and meet or exceed U.S. Government safety standards. Counterfeits are manufactured using inferior materials and workmanship and do not bear appropriate notices and instructions for their safe and proper use. To ensure you purchase authentic products be sure to:

1. Examine the products carefully. Counterfeits may have blurry printing or wrong colors. Who wants a blue Pikachu?
2. Ask the retailer pointed questions if the product appears suspicious. If the store can't guarantee an item is authentic, you might want to think twice before purchasing the item.
3. Look for the following proper indications of intellectual property ownership and the Official Nintendo Seal of Quality.

POKEMON THE MOVIE 2000
THE POWER OF ONE!

Your resident PokE-critic is amazed. Agog. Slack-jawed. He's just come back from experiencing Pokemon the Movie 2000 and is ecstatic to report that it's everything he expected, and more.

First of all, you get two movies for the price of one. (How's that for a great deal?) Preceding the main feature, The Power of One, is an action-packed short, Pikachu's Rescue Adventure.

Pokemon in their natural environment take center stage in the short, in which Ash and friends have very minor parts. Pikachu's Rescue Adventure takes place in a magical underground forest where Bellossom swing and sway and a Gyarados ferociously guards an idyllic waterfall.
Could one collector's quest for the rare Pokemon Lugia be wreaking havoc with the world's weather?
An Exeggcute's attempt to adopt a lost Togepi as one of their own, Meowth's smarty-pants wisecracks and a tree-rattling thunderstorm all come into play — but hey, it wouldn't be sporting to give away all the exciting stuff that happens, would it?

The Power of One starts off with a huge bang, as extremely eccentric Pokemon collector Lawrence III swoops down on the Orange Islands in a beautifully computer-generated airship in search of Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno. Lawrence III has heard that capturing all three may help him find Lugia, an extremely rare bird that lives deep beneath the ocean. Lawrence III is so obsessed with capturing Lugia, he doesn't care if his actions may bring about the end of the world!

The dazzling computer-generated images include Lawrence III's airship
Fortunately for the world, Ash Ketchum and friends arrive at nearby Shamouti Island just as Lawrence III launches his reckless plan. The islanders offer Ash the opportunity to play the part of the hero in their annual festival. But when a huge storm kicks up, Ash soon realizes that he's playing for keeps.

A story with more twists and turns than Diglett's Cave awaits our hero. He meets a brand-new Pokémon,Slowking, guarding an ancient tablet on a remote island — and just like Team Rocket's Meowth, Slowking can talk to both people and other Pokemon. Professor Oak and Ash's Mom bravely helicopter into the eye of this perfect storm. Thousands upon thousands of Pokémon gather nearby, hoping against hope to help in any way they can. And — Gasp! — Team Rocket seriously considers helping the side of good. Will wonders never cease?

In the end, Ash learns that the power of one can indeed save the world. You'll learn that, too, in this terrific entertainment that's heart-warming, exciting, hilarious and, ultimately, inspirational. Two thumbs up!

SLEEP IN STYPLE!

Planning a sleep over? Now you can snooze like a true PokEmon Trainer with PokEmon pillows and blankets from The Northwest Company.

PokEmon Pillows

In addition to the Mewtwo pillow shown here, PokEmon pillows come in five other styles: Surfing Pikachu, Pikachu with balloons, Charmeleon, Charizard and Venusaur. Each square-shaped pillow is 20" wide and super soft. Pokémon World would never encourage anyone to engage in a pillow fight, but if you find yourself in the middle of a perilous pummeling we'd recommend keeping a Mewtwo pillow close at hand.

PokEmon Blankets

PokEmon blankets are big, soft and colorful. The blanket shown here is perfect for Pikachu fanatics, and there is also a PokEmon Power blanket which features Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle. The only thing we're wondering is, where the heck is Snorlax?
